This session will focus on the role of the XIST gene in dosage compensation for XX and XY sex chromosome complements. It will include a basic discussion of the concept of dosage compensation, the timing and mechanism of X-chromosome inactivation, genes that escape , and the clinical consequences of aberrant X inactivation in humans.
