Dr. Myra Forrest is a lifelong educator and current Education Advocate for the Pottstown Regional Community Foundation, where she champions funding equity for underfunded schools. Her extensive leadership background includes serving as Executive Director for the Foundation for Pottstown Education and as a professor in the graduate education programs at both Immaculata and Cabrini Universities. Dr. Forrest served as Superintendent of the Owen J. Roberts School District from 2005 to 2009. Her deep roots in the Pottstown School District include tenures as assistant superintendent, director of curriculum, principal of Rupert Elementary, and classroom teacher. She also shared her passion for the arts as a music teacher in the Pottsgrove and Spring-Ford School Districts earlier in her career. In the community, Dr. Forrest serves as chairperson of the Board of Trustees at Pottstown Hospital and is a member of the Pottstown Communities of Faith. She is a past president of the PA Retired Superintendent’s Association and has served on the PASA Women’s Caucus Executive Committee, the Tri-County Chamber of Commerce board, and the Montgomery County Office of Children and Youth Advisory Board. A long-time patron of the arts, Dr. Forrest was president of the Pottstown Symphony Orchestra for 17 years and performed with the ensemble as a pianist. Her career of service has been marked by numerous honors, including the 2022 “Master of the REACH” award, the 2019 Helping Hands Heart Award, and the 2018 Lifetime Legacy Award for Leadership. In 2018, the Foundation for Pottstown Education established the Dr. Myra Forrest Scholarship in her honor, and in 2002, she was named the Tri-County YMCA’s Exceptional Woman of the Year in The Arts. Dr. Forrest holds a Doctorate in Educational Administration from Widener University, a Master of Education from Cabrini University, and a Bachelor of Music from Indiana University, Bloomington.
