Carol Joy Powell joined the Pittsburgh Foundation in August 2023 as the senior scholarship coordinator. In that role, she administers the scholarship program, which houses over 375 donor-established scholarship funds. Before coming to the Foundation, Carol Joy was a development associate at CCAC’s Educational Foundation. She has more than 15 years of experience in the education space. With a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Carol Joy began her career as a software and systems design engineer at U.S. Steel and ALCOA before moving to Ohio and taking time off to raise her four children. When she re-entered the work force she pivoted her career to non-profit and education. She and her husband returned to their native Pittsburgh area in 2020, and now enjoy having all of their children here as well.
