In this workshop, we'll explore a technique for working with classical text that will help activate dense language and bring us closer to experiencing the character.

It will explore classical and modern characters through punctuation to help quickly understand the mental state and clues to portraying a character as the writer intended.

This acting technique, developed at the world famous Neighborhood Playhouse, will be taught by faculty member Gary Kingston. Students will be guided through the exercises designed to ignite one's acting instincts and talent.

This lecture-demo delves deeply into the spirituals, the improvised secret folk chants of enslaved African Americans. As no recordings of these rituals exist, we cannot know for certain how the spirituals originally were sung.
Come ready to move. Using techniques from choreographer Liz Lerman, we will activate the imagination and flex composition muscles to create something that was not present at the start.

Students will be introduced to Stanislavsky’s Active Analysis. This technique allows actors to analyze a scene physically and through active collaboration rather than intellectually.
Here we will work on crafting strong, professional, and creative auditions experiences. Actors should have a 32 bar cut or 1-2 minute monologue prepared to workshop in a mock audition setting, in which Rachel will workshop.
Beginning with the simple act of tossing an imaginary ball in a circle, over the course of an hour we will transform this space object, exploring the multitude of possibilities that exist in our collective imaginations.
An actor walks off stage wearing one costume and comes back on stage wearing a new outfit. How does that magic happen? Come practice with us.

This lecture-demo delves deeply into the spirituals, the improvised secret folk chants of enslaved African Americans. As no recordings of these rituals exist, we cannot know for certain how the spirituals originally were sung.
This will be a discussion for faculty and student designers on how to shift their design process to make accommodations for performers with invisible disabilities, especially autism and other neurodivergent identities.
In this 90-minute workshop, participants will work from sides from the 1623 First Folio printing to discover the cues and clues the playwright left to help them perform his plays without rehearsal.
This workshop will introduce the foundational process of 3D printing, from creating a virtual 3D object file to printing it out. Participants are highly recommended to bring their laptops.
