Trust in healthcare is driven by past experiences, communication, cultural beliefs, and values.

When trust is present, there is energy and a level of engagement to act to get the care needed. When it isn’t present, we disengage from the situation or the healthcare process.

In healthcare, trust impacts a person’s readiness to fill out forms, disclose symptoms, act on recommended treatment plans, and engage others in getting help. The costs of lack of trust can lead to poor health, high emergency costs, and lack of preventative care.
